It wasn’t but two weeks ago that we posted a story on where things stood on the recruiting front with 2017 Skyview TE/DE Skyler Martin and now we know where he’ll play for the next four or five years.
Martin announced his decision to commit to Montana on his Twitter page.

“Montana football is unbelievable, so when coach (Bob) Stitt offered me a full ride, I couldn’t pass it up,” an excited Martin told Northwest Elite Index. “Playing in an environment like that for the next four to five years is an amazing opportunity for me. The winning tradition, the location is awesome and I have a great relationship with the coaching staff.
“They made me feel like family from the start.”
When he decided to commit to the coaches, they were understandably excited.
“All the coaches were super excited,” Martin said. “They want me to come play offensive line for them, so they really feel like they got a steal with me because nobody else has been recruiting me there. All the coaches hit me up after I committed and welcomed me to the family, and coach (Travis) Niekamp said I made their day.”
Martin chose the Grizzlies over offers from San Diego, Cornell and Columbia and he was also getting heavy interest from Wyoming as well.
Martin plays both defensive end and tight end for his team and so far this season, the talented 6’5″, 235-pounder has racked up over 30 tackles with four sacks while helping to lead his team to a 4-3 record.
Skyview will take on rival Union this Friday.
