Oregon’s largest camp and combine was once again a very successful event, and all of us at Barton Football would like to thank the athletes and families who participated on Mother’s Day.

West Salem High School was an outstanding venue where a host of the state’s top athletes showed up and competed. Have a look below at the individuals who participated as we as a staff voted on overall and positional camp MVP’s for the day.

 

Overall Camp MVP – 2016′ Ronnie Rust RB/SS Central Catholic

Rust is one of the top overall Sophomore athletes in the country, already holding a D1 scholarship offer from Oregon St in Baseball. He earned All American honors for the class of 2016 in football this past season, while winning the 6A state championship. Ronnie was incredibly impressive on Sunday in both the testing portion of the event and the 1 on 1’s. He will be a big reason why the Rams will be the overwhelming favorite to win next years state title.

Combine MVP – 2015′ Landon Jones ATH Puyallup, WA.

The kid out of Washington was the fastest athlete at the camp, clocking a 4.53 40 yard dash. Jones recently made the transfer from Emerald Ridge HS to Puyallup where you will see him as a featured athlete and a conference player of the year candidate. He will be one of the top skill kids in the state of Washington for the 2015 class.

Upperclassmen Overall MVP’s

2015′ Keegen Hlad- WR West Salem

The state’s #1 ranked WR had an outstanding day, showing why he is a D1 recruit. Keegen will be in Oakland at the NFTC and also participating at a variety of collegiate camps this off season. His overall versatility and length separate him from his peers as most DB’s cant handle him.

 

2015′ JT Valenzuela S West Albany

The 1st team All State Safety and 2013 5a state champion is just a really a good football player. His stock has risen a great deal over the last year as he consistently makes plays out of the norm. He was our defensive MVP in Las Vegas and continued the trend at Oregon’s largest camp/combine.

 

Underclassmen Overall MVP’s

2016′ Jacob Kizer TE/DE West Salem

Kizer will be one of the most recruited athletes in the region for the class of 2016, currently listed at 6-5 225. He ran a 4.75 40 yard dash and will be the top ranked junior TE in Oregon, after being named an all conference D end as a sophomore. Jake is a three sport athlete that will have a host of division 1 universities visiting his school in the coming years.

 

2017′ Anthony Adams ATH Newberg

Maybe the top player in Oregon for the class of 2017 and an unquestioned multi offer D1 athlete. Adams broke off DB’s left and right over the weekend, and continued right where he left off in Vegas. Expect him to be one of the state’s top overall players as a sophomore.

UPPERCLASSMEN MVP’s

 

QB’s

Nolan Henry 2015′ Union WA- Henry has been hearing from a host of Ivy League schools and other D1’s as he will get a chance to air it out a little more this season with a new head coach leading the Titans.

Willy Pflug 2015′ Sunset- One of the fastest rising recruits in the region had a very nice camp and combine. Pflug has added Eastern Washington and Montana offers over the last week as QB coach Alex Brink was impressed with his play on Sunday.

Cade Smith 2015′ West Salem- The CVC player of the year favorite is throwing the ball as well as he ever has. He was offered by Navy a few weeks back while his brother Brett will be pursuing an NFL career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

 

RB

Tyler Clark 2015′ Dayton- Clark went for 28 TD’s for the traditional 2A power last season, as he had an MVP type day. He will be a conference and state player of the year candidate and should be ranked one of Oregon’s top backs regardless of classification.

 

WR

Dylan Morgan 2015′ Crater- Morgan runs some of the nicest routes in the region and had a phenomenal Salem Camp/Combine. He is climbing the charts quickly as his brother RJ Morgan (6-2 230 Safety), currently resides as a scholarship athlete with the Arizona Wildcats.

Austin Albin 2015′ Mountain View- Austin had maybe the catch of the day and is all of 6-5. He could be one of the breakout players state wide as he was hurt a majority of his junior season. Expect Albin to be a 1st team all league kid and one of the top receivers in the state.

 

LB

Pepe Tanuvasa 2015′ Southidge- The state’s top ranked LB showed off increased side to side agility as he will be a Metro League Defensive Player of the Year favorite. Expect to see Tanuvasa have a big off season on the camp circuit as he has never looked better.

 

DB

** Due to the amount of talent at the position numerous MVP’s were selected

Chris Adamo 2015′ Mountain View- One of the most impressive kids in all of Oregon. Adamo could be the top cover corner in the state and has had an off season worthy of significant praise. He had a phenomenal Sunday and will be listed as one of the top Jr DB’s in the region.

Joey Roos 2015′ West Albany- The 6-3 1st team all state safety looked very impressive and will be ranked one of Oregon’s top defensive players for the class of 2015. He is an outstanding overall athlete and you can’ teach size so expect big things from Joey offensively and defensively this upcoming season.

Hayden Kirsch 2015′ Clackamas- The Cav’s safety earned 1st team all TRL honors in 2013 and looked great on Sunday. You can expect big things out of the kid from Clack as the team loses one of the better senior classes in school history.

Kobey Eaton 2015′ Evergreen WA- Eaton’s stock has risen significantly as he is a talented kid on and off the field. He has run a 10.9 100 meter dash and is extremely intelligent, while possessing legit 6-3 size. Expect big things from Kobey as part of head coach Don Johnson’s defense.

Jerrin Williams 2015′ DB North Salem- Williams has had a phenomenal off season and will be a three year all league QB. He is a D1 bubble kid that could end up being a DB at the next level.

Derek Parnell 2015′ DB Southridge- One of the top overall athletes in Oregon had a very nice day running one of the fastest 40’s (4.60). He will be ranked one of the state’s top CB’s.

 

OL

TJ Salu 2015′ Central Catholic- One of the most talented lineman in the state of Oregon who projects at the D1 level. Salu is maybe the most fundamentally sound lineman in the region, showing off his skills over the weekend and never allowing a sack.

 

DL

Lisala Manu 2015′ West Salem- Lisala earned 1st team all league honors as a junior and will be a CVC defensive player of the year candidate. His overall strength and versatility, combined with his ability to bull rush made him very tough to stop.

 

UNDERCLASSMEN MVP’s

 

QB’s

Eric Restic 2016′ Jesuit- The kid out of Jesuit helped his team to a state title appearance in 2013 and is one of the fastest rising 2016 athletes in the state. He now stands a legit 6-0 and looked outstanding on Sunday.

Chase Crawford 2016′ Tigard- Crawford dropped dimes all day and should challenge JT Greenough for the starting QB spot at Tigard. He looked exceptional over the weekend and has legit collegiate potential at 6-4.

Carson Spitznagel 2016′ Central Catholic- The young Quarterback out of Central Catholic will be one of two individuals vying for the starting role next season. He looked polished at the event and has an outstanding upside moving forward.

 

RB’s

Rey Green 2016′ Evergreen WA- The kid out of Vancouver already holds a D1 offer and could be the top Sophomore RB in the State of Washington. He looked outstanding on Sunday and will have multiple high profile offers before all is said and done.

Colin Hyatt 2016′ Newberg- The sophomore out of Newberg ran the 2nd fastest 40 yard dash time (4.59) among the 125 kids in attendance. Expect him, Anthony Adams and a host of Tiger athletes to be tough to stop in the coming seasons.

 

WR

Elijah Benedick 2016′ Wilsonville- The kid out of Wilsonville can play 3 or 4 different positions (QB/WR/S) and is just a very good overall athlete. Look for him to have a breakout junior season for the Wildcats as he brings legit size and skill to the table.

Bryce Bumgardner 2016′ St Helens- One of the most well rounded athletes in Oregon. Bryce tied for the state lead in INT’s among sophomores last season and will be a go to guy for the Lions offensively. He once again looked outstanding on Sunday.

Matt Schmitz 2016′ West Linn- The youngest Schmitz ran some of the best routes we have seen all off season. He was one of the most consistent athletes in attendance and will be a top TRL receiver before he is done.

 

LB

Devin Thompson 2016′ Liberty- Thompson earned 1st team all league honors as a sophomore, something very tough to do at any level. He has good size and ran well while showing why he will be ranked one of the state’s top LB’s for the class of 2016.

Sam Chitty 2016′ West Linn- The kid out of WL will be a featured backer for the Lions over the next two years. He moved well, was fundamentally sound, and was one of the breakout athletes of the day.

Grant Nielsen 2016′ Tualatin- Nielsen looked as good as we have ever seen him. He is now pushing 6-1 215 and will be a top athlete for the Timberwolves this season. Grant has a phenomenal work ethic and will be one of the top backers in the state for his class.

 

DB

Zach Smith 2016′ Capital WA- Smith started as a freshman at Capital before having to sit as a sophomore with an injury. He will be ranked one of the top DB’s in Washington for the 2016 class and is a lock down corner. Zack had a tremendous day and was in the discussion for overall camp MVP honors.

 

OL

Conner Crist 2016′ Tigard- The kid out of Tigard will be ranked the state’s top O lineman for the 2016 class and he showed why Sunday. His ability to maneuver, all while possessing legit size (6-4 290) was extremely impressive.

Marcus John 2016′ West Salem- John upped his stock a great deal over the weekend as he is a beast on the interior. Expect Marcus to be one of our top ranked lineman for the class as West could have another special 2016 group.

 

DL

Tony Kraus 2016′ Canby- The 1st team all league kid out of Canby will be tough for anyone to handle. He is very similar to Conner Humphreys in that his get off is tough for any O lineman to handle. He is a very talented overall athlete and will be one of the state’s best junior’s.

 

8TH Grade MVP’s

Dawson Jaramillo Lake Oswego- The kid out of LO is one of the best 8th grade lineman I have ever seen. His overall athleticism is astounding at 6-4 230 as he pushed around junior’s at the event. He could legitimately start for Steve Coury’s Lakers next year as he was the only kid called to stand up at the end of the day for a round of applause.

Talanoa Hufanga Santiam Christian- Talanoa is the brother of Oregon St LB TJ Hufanga as he went for 37 TD’s last season while playing youth ball. The skills that he possesses at such a young age are jaw dropping as you can expect to see him be one of the top players in the state in the coming seasons.

 

Breakout Performers

Derek McMurray 2016′ OL Tigard- McMurray came in at 6-6 1/2 350 pounds and will be ranked one of the top Sophomore lineman in Oregon. He had an outstanding day and will be a kid we hear a lot about in the coming seasons.

Isaiah Kerlegan 2015′ WR S.Albany- One of the breakout athletes of the day. Kerlegan will be one of the top players in the MWC and tied for the 2nd fastest 40 yard dash time (4.59).

Jacob Spadafora 2015′ WR Tigard- Spadafora had a phenomenal event and continues to be one of the fastest rising athletes in Oregon. Look for Tigard to use him often.

OL/DL

Chris Mengis 2015′ OL/DL Oregon City- Mengis will be one of the top dual threat lineman in the state. He had a good workout and will be ranked on both sides of the ball.

Aidan Kragero 2015′ DL/OL Clackamas- Kragero had one of the best days of any lineman in attendance. He will be key for Clack next season up front.

Cody Gubbels 2015′ OL Silverton- Gubbels will return as one of the top lineman at the 5a level on what will be a state title contending team. He looks the part and had a good day.

Andrew O’Brien 2015′ OL/DL West Salem- O’Brien had an outstanding junior season and will be one of the top lineman in the CVC. He was quick off the ball and should help the Titans be a CVC favorite.

Jake Pruit 2016′ Valley Catholic- Pruitt will be one of the top junior lineman in the state at the 4a level in 2014. He has been a standout all off season and had a very impressive camp and combine.

Maui Manu 2018′ OL/DL West Salem- The Titans keep producing talented athletes and the youngest Manu will be a force to be reckoned with. He could compete as a freshman.

Ryan Duenas 2017 OL/DL Philomath- Duenas had a great day and will be one of Philomath’s top players in the coming years. The traditional 4A power will continue the trend.

Brandt Waller 2018′ OL/DL Mt View- Waller comes from a football family and has consistently been impressive at our events. He is young but very talented and will be one of the top IMC kids in the coming years.

Cole Nimz 2015′ DL Clackamas- Nimz was a solid contributor for the Cavs last season and should be one of the leaders for the team upfront this season. He had a good event over the weekend.

Brian Ott 2016′ OL/DL West Salem- The young sophomore had a good day and will be part of what could be a special 2016 Titan group.

Max Freeman 2017′ OL/DL North Bend- The kids out of North were one of the most impressive teams in the state at the 4a level and Freeman will be a big part of the future.

Tyler Coates 2017′ OL/DL South Salem- Coates is a good size kid that should help the Saxons compete in the coming years. He had a good event on Sunday.

 

QB’S

Scott Lloyd 2015′ QB Oregon City- One of the fastest rising QB’s in the state and a kid that will direct a Pioneers squad that should be one of the best in Oregon. He threw the ball well and is all of 6-3.

Tyler Kelsch 2015′ QB South Albany- Kelsch has had an outstanding off season thus far and has all the potential in the world at 6-3. The Rebels have some legit kids returning as South could make the round of 16 at the 5a level.

Tim Tawa 2017′ QB West Linn- Tawa is one of the better overall athletes in Oregon for the 2017 class. He is a D1 baseball kid, but also possesses legit skills on the football field.

Matt Struck 2016′ QB Crater- Struck is a big kid with one of the strongest arms in the state. He had a good day hitting his targets and will be ranked among the top QB’s in the 2016 class.

Brody Wittman 2016′ QB West Salem- Wittman will be Cade’s backup and had a nice workout. He missed some time with an injury last year but has a bright future.

Caleb Tatum 2015′ QB Mountain View- Tatum is a talented quarterback and a legit 6-4. He has had a very impressive off season and will be in one of the more competitive QB competitions state wide with Cody Anthony.

Cody Anthony 2015′ QB Mountain View- Cody did a great job throwing the ball and is an equally impressive overall athlete, as shown by his performance at RB last season.

Kody Steele 2012′ QB Dallas (Simon Fraser University)- Steele played for Dallas HS a few years back where he did not throw much in the Dragon system. He is a talented kid with a live arm and recently transferred from SFU.

Austin Brown 2015′ QB Sprague- Brown is all of 6-4 and will be the guy leading the Oly’s system next year. He was impressive on Sunday and will look to help Sprague return as CVC Champs.

Kyle Schwarm 2016′ QB Stayton- Schwarm is a big kid that can sling it as he will be a 4a conference and state player of the year candidate before all is said and done. Kyle looked great over the weekend and should be one of the top 10 ranked QB’s in Oregon for the class of 2016.

Josh Murray 2015′ QB Thurston- Murray is a kid we have seen multiple times as he looked the part. QB’s in Coach Justin Starck’s system have thrived and Murray could have a big year.

Michael Langner 2015′ QB Elmira- Langner will be in his 3rd year as the starter for the 4A school out of Eugene. He had an impressive day and is a kid that should be one of the better players in his conference this season.

Trey Ecker 2015′ QB Philomath- Ecker will be a conference and state player of the year candidate at the 4a level after throwing 26 TD’s and 1 Int last season. He will lead a talented Warrior team that went 11-1 in 2013 and looked outstanding on Sunday.

Royal Jones 2014′ QB Emerald Ridge WA- The kid out of Washington comes from a football family with his brother Landon being a phenomenal overall athlete. Royal had a good event.

Wyatt Duthie 2016′ QB West Salem- Coach Stanley has had success with the QB’s that have come through his school and Duthie will eventually get his shot as he looked good on Sunday.

Justin Culpepper 2017′ QB Sprague- Culpepper is a talented quarterback that has legit size. Look for him to be a big factor in the future. He had a nice event.

Lucas Mcknight 2017′ QB West Salem- The Titans had a host of talented freshman at the event and Mcknight was another one.

Connor Campbell 2017′ QB West Salem- Another freshman QB that had a good day. The Titans have a lot of talent coming up.

James Baxter 2016′ QB Jefferson- Another small school kid that did well.. Its always good when kids from more rural areas represent.

Jesse Medley 2016′ QB Mcminnville- It was good to see the Sophomore from Mcminnville as he did well. There will be some big shoes to fill with the departure of all everything athlete/QB Gage Gubrud.

 

RB’s

Marquise Sampson 2017′ RB Evergreen WA- The freshman out of Vancouver is one of the more exciting players in the state and he showed why on Sunday.

Zack Wilbur 2015′ RB Southridge- Wilbur earned 1st team all league Metro honors at fullback last season and looked great out of the RB spot on Sunday. Expect him to be one of the top players in the conference.

Joe Rose 2015′ RB Klamath Union- Rose transferred to Klamath from West Linn and went for double digit TD’s last year. He had an impressive camp/combine.

Keonte McMurrin 2017′ RB West Salem- Keonte is just a really good kid and had an impressive day.. He went for 20+ TD’s at the freshman level and will be a big part of the future when referencing the Titan program.

Anthony Nunn 2016′ RB Sprague- Nunn could be a kid we see a lot of in the coming years, as Sprague will be talented. Expect to hear his name called often.

Brendan Van Voohris 2017 RB’ McNary- One of the most impressive freshman in the region as he ran a 4.72 40 yard dash and is currently a varsity track athlete. Van Voohris will be a top ranked CVC kid.

Andrew Weaver 2016′ RB Sprague- Weaver is a smaller back that is super quick, running a (4.63) 40 yard dash as he is only a sophomore. Expect big things from him in the future.

Kyle Terry 2016 ‘ RB West Salem- Terry will be behind 1st team all league RB Gary Garvin but should compete for playing time in the future. He was another Titan that had a good weekend.

Ty Figueroa 2016′ RB West Salem- The Titans have multiple RB’s coming back and Figueroa will be another kid that competes for PT in the future.

Conrad Thompson 2017′ RB Sprague- Another talented freshman that will help Sprague compete in the coming seasons.

Brandon Amos 2019′ RB Tigard- You got to love the talented 7th graders that come out and compete with the big boys. Expect to hear about Amos as he is in one of the best programs in Oregon

WR’s

Nick Krska 2015′ WR Clackamas- One of the top Jr’s from the TRL last season had an impressive camp. Krska had a monster 2013 campaign and will team with Kirsch to lead the Cav’s.

Lane Hull 2015′ ATH Wilsonville- Hull just continues to get better as he could be one of the top overall athletes in the NWOC next season.

Kevin Lahoda 2016′ ATH West Albany- Lahoda comes from a football family with his brother helping to direct the Bulldogs to last years 5a state title. Kevin had a very impressive event and could be one of the top athletes in the conference this season.

Kyle Schrandt 2016′ WR West Linn- Schrandt has made the switch from QB to WR and could be a big asset for the Lions as he is a legit 6-3 and athletic.

Jason Rucker 2017′ ATH Westview- One of the top younger athletes in the Metro had a good day, and competed with some of the top Soph’s and Jr’s in Oregon. He comes from a football family as his brother Julius was a standout as well.

Jacob Vincent 2015′ WR Valley Catholic- Vincent was one of the breakout players of the day and has the potential of being one of the top athletes in the conference for a much improved Valiants group.

Kasen Hall 2016′ WR Thurston- Kasen had a good day and should be a contributor on what looks to be a very talented 2016 Colt’s group. We have always been advocates of Coach Starck’s teams.

Tristan Birge 2015′ ATH Oregon City- Birge went down with an injury but should be a key contributor on what will be a state title contending Oregon City team.

Justin Marshall 2016′ WR South Albany- Justin was another South kid that had a good day. The Rebels will be a team to watch as they will be much improved due to kids like Marshall.

Chase Lakin 2016′ WR West Salem- The Sophomore WR had a good day, running a 4.75 40 yard dash. He could be one of the primary receivers in the future.

Landon Matta 2016′ WR South Albany- The Rebels have some talented younger kids upcoming and Matta will look to get in the mix out of the slot.

Ben Diehl 2016′ WR Stayton- Diehl did well and will have one of the state’s top Sophomore QB’s throwing him the ball so he is in a good position.

Cole Rumrill 2017′ WR West Salem- Rumrill is a good size WR that has the potential of being a player in the future.

Nick Burgett 2016′ WR Falls City- Its always good to see the kids come from more rural places and compete. Burgett is a sophomore that did well.

Darien Lejjna 2018′ WR Salem- An 8th grader out of Salem that we will see in the future.

 

LB’s

Matt Sigmund 2015 LB West Salem- The kid out of Salem earned 2nd team all league honors at backer in 2013 and will be one of the top defensive players in the CVC. He had a good event.

Andrew Axelson 2016′ LB Sprague- The Oly’s have a very talented 2016 class and Axelson will be a big part of that group. He looked good from his backer baker spot and should be a player next season.

Hamilton Hunt 2015′ LB West Salem- Hunt will play a big role for the Titans this season as they will be a potential top 10 team. Hamilton is a talented kid on and off the field and could play at the collegiate level

Maclayne Westberg 2015′ LB West Salem- We have seen Westberg multiple times and he will be another key component to this year’s Titan group. He is solid from his backer spot.

Trenton Looper 2016′ LB Philomath- Looper is a talented sophomore that will help sure up the middle for Philomath at backer. He had a good day and has legit size at 6-0 215.

Justus Gile 2017′ LB West Salem- The Titans have a talented freshman group and you can expect Gile to be a primary backer.

David Prosser 2016′ LB Sprague- Prosser is a good size athlete that comes from a football family. He should help the Oly’s continue to stay atop the CVC.

 

DB’s

Jacob Bystry 2015′ DB Columbia River WA.- Bystry was in the MVP conversation and had a great day from his secondary spot. He was a 2nd team all GSHL kid and will be one of the better athletes in the conference.

Kosey Mitchell 2015′ DB Willamette- Mitchell did a good job from his DB spot and will also be the Wolverines QB. He will return as a leader for his team as they will need him to play lights out with the transition to the 6A level.

Devin Shook 2017′ DB Crater- All of us like what Shook brings to the table as he has a tremendous upside. Both him and Wyatt Vancil are outstanding DB’s that will compete for the Comets as part of the 2017 group.
