Devauntae Hoffman Highlight Video
One of the very best players in the Pacific Northwest without an offer is Devauntae Hoffman (5-8 190 Sr. RB/CB) out of Gresham. The kid has broken all type of Mt Hood Conference records, after earning 1st team all league honors for the past three seasons, and racking up Offensive Conference Player of the Year honors for the last two in the Mt Hood.
Devauntae attended all of our elite events last off season and is one of the most coach able, and talented Oregon kids to EVER come through the academy. His ability to hit holes and cut at full speed has been more then eye opening as Taylor Barton says, ” Devauntae should have an offer, he’s extremely talented and just a great kid”.
More then anything Hoffman’ s work ethic and personality stick out a like a sore thumb as he’s the ultimate teammate. He’s a phenomenal athlete that everyone likes, and just refuses to be outworked. In 2012 he lead Gresham to a (8-1) regular season, exceeding everyone’s expectations before being upended early in the playoffs.
He is currently sitting on the bubble with a host of schools after accumulating 3, 875 rushing yards, 5112 all purpose yards, and 47 Tds over the last three years. The numbers are pretty crazy, but to a point its understandable when referencing the competition factor why he hasn’t received his first offer. Universities want to see a kid prove himself against top competition, and that’s not always easy to do in the northwest.
With that said Devauntae has made us all believers. He would start for multiple years at the D1aa level if given the opportunity. He says, ” I try to make everyone around me better and i’m a team guy first…I feel like my work ethic speaks for itself”. His 330 bench, 300 pound power clean, and 540 squat only exemplify what we already know.
Devauntae has received interest from Portland St, N.Dakota and a host of D2 and D3’s, but everything is still in limbo. There honestly isn’t much more that he could have done over his career. He’s the first kid in the gym and the last one to leave, that type of athlete.
I can’t really say enough good things about Devaunate, as he is someone that both Taylor Barton and myself see as a legit college back.
