( Kevin McClean (6-4 195 Sr. WR/S) Southridge HS ) |
One of Oregon’s top two way threats out of Beaverton’s Southridge HS is Kevin McClean (6-4 195 Sr. WR/S). McClean lead the Metro League in receptions last season (33) , and earned second team all league honors as a junior on a team that won the conference title over the likes of Jesuit and Aloha.
McClean went down to Cali this last week and was one of the top receivers at The NIKE Elite 11 Event with a ridiculous cast in attendance. When referencing the recent camp Kevin says, " there were about 15-20 guys that were selected out of a group of hundreds of WR’s that didn’t make the cut". He added, " I got to see what the best QB’s in the nation looked like, as well as get feedback on my technique".
McClean is one of the top 5 receivers in Oregon and has the size and overall athleticism to be a D1 kid with continued success. As a sophomore Kevin earned second team all league honors at safety which only exemplifies how good of an overall athlete that he is.
One of the most exciting aspects to this season is the fact that McClean is one of three or four prime targets for the Skyhawks. Justin Calo (6-1 175 Sr.) is a threat anytime he gets the ball in the open field, and had one of the highest yard per catch averages in the state last season. Jordan Morgan (6-2 190 Jr.) is maybe the top junior receiver in the state of Oregon, and Alec Powell (6-2 185 Sr.) has had a phenomenal off season and has more then looked the part.
All of this said which makes the point that you wont be able to double team anybody, with one of the most dangerous QB’s in the northwest in Reza Aleaziz (6-4 220 Sr.) picking secondaries apart.
We will continue to follow up with McClean as the season progresses, and wish him and his Skyhawk teammates continued success.
