Kentridge Talented Two Way Lineman Tyler Bailey (6-3 320 OL/DL) looks to quiet Curtis Top lineman Chris Coffin |
One player that seemed to catch everyone’s eyes at the Northwest Stars camp two weeks ago was Kentridge DL/OL Tyler Bailey. Northwest Elite Index spoke to the talented two-way line prospect and he updated us on where things stand…
"I’ve been having a good summer so far," Bailey told NEI recently. "I’ve gotten letters from a few schools and I’ve been going to some camps too.
"Central Washington, Eastern Washington and UCLA have all been sending me stuff and I just got back from a Nebraska camp recently. I also went to a Nike SPARQ camp down in Tigard (Or.) and been to Central and Washington State’s camp too."
When he steps on the field, the first thing you notice about Bailey is his impressive size and at 6’3" and 320 pounds, he carries his weight well.
He played both ways for the Chargers last fall and he plans to hold down both spots this season, but he admitted that he prefers the defensive side of the ball.
"I started every game at left tackle and nose guard," Bailey said. "I prefer defense, but I like both really. I don’t care which side I play on, as long as I get a chance to go to college and play ball."
Playing along the defensive line, Bailey posted over 20 tackles and also had eight sacks.
"I have a good first step and I’m pretty strong, so that helps me a lot," Bailey said. "I’ve been working a lot on my footwork and also being more explosive and I’m trying to add strength too."
We will continue to touch base with Bailey in the coming weeks and we will update news on him as his senior season gets underway.
