A kid we will hear a lot about over the next couple of seasons will be Jonah Jordan (6-2 265 Jr. OL/DL), the junior to be from Mead HS in Spokane. Jordan earned all league honors a season ago, and continues to grow and just get bigger and faster. He attended the showcase event at UW on Saturday and continued to make a name for himself while battling some of the top lineman in the region.
Jordan played much more offense last season, but will be playing both ways in 2012. He should be able to cause serious problems for opponents from his D end spot, and will be considered one of the top junior lineman in the state of Washington.
Speaking to Jordan previously about the season he says, " Im very excited, I think we should be really good with a majority of our top guys coming back". He continued, " personally I want to be a 1st team all league kid on both sides of the ball, and just do my part to help my team win".
The showcase event exploited Jordan’s versatility as you can see him being an outstanding guard/tackle or possibly even a center depending how much he continues to grow. He has had a very successful off season thus far showing off his increased size from a season ago.
Over the weekend we caught up to Danny Mattingly, the recent Notre Dame commit , and were able to spend a few days with him. He can’t say enough god things about Jordan,
" The kids a beast and phenomenal blocker… he is able to make blocks on guys that you wouldn’t expect a lineman to be able to get to, he’s just very tough and athletic". Mattingly added, " he’s going to be one of the best D ends in the state, as he just creates problems for people".
This coming from a kid that knows a thing or two about talent being offered by almost every school in the country.
Add in Langston Ward (6-4 250 Sr. DE) who was recently been offered by E.Michigan, Wyoming, and Harvard to Mattingly (6-6 235 Sr. TE/DE/OLB) and Jordan and you have what might be the best line in the state.
We look forward to seeing Jordan and his Mead teammates in 2012, as we expect them to be one of the top 4a teams in the state of Washington.
