(Domenic Rockey 6-3 190 Sr. QB) Auburn Mountainview |
A team that could cause problems for people in 2012, will be the Domenic Rockey (6-3 195 Sr. QB) lead Auburn Mountainview Lions out of Washington. Rockey is in his third year as a starter, and threw for 2159 yards and 15 Tds in 2011. He feels good about how everybody has looked thus far, and knows that they need to improve from last years (6-4) season.
His favorite target will be the team leader in receiving Tds (5) from last year Devin Bryant (5-9 170 Sr. Slot/CB) who recorded 511 yards through the air. Two other standout kids who will be catching the ball will be juniors Joey Cassano (5-10 175 Sr. WR/CB) and Ray Hardaway (6-0 185 Jr. WR/DB). Cassano caught 30 balls for 355 yds and 3 Tds and was one of the most consistent sophomore receivers in the state of Washington, while Hardaway is a receiver but also an outstanding junior DB that can come up and smack you.
Rockey says, "its going to be exciting, I think we are going to throw the ball 45+ times a game this season". Domenic will look forward to having the luxury of a big tough running back in Mose Maino (6-1 210 Sr. RB/LB) who can take the pressure off and be a good pass blocker.
The line will be lead by Kijana Dyer (6-4 285 Sr. C/DE) and Nick Aumua (6-3 250 Sr. DE/T) who are both legit returning starters, and junior Dakota Weir (6-1 245 Jr. OL/DL) who is one of the better young lineman in Washington.
Aumua will also be a leader on defense, and is ranked as one of the better D lineman in Washington for the class of 2013. The Lions will have multiple kids going both ways, with quality linebackers and DB’s such as Brandon Bodine (5-11 180 Sr. DB) who is happy to come up and hit you at any time.
The Lions will also get good work from Tyler Hartson (6-3 195 Sr. WR/LB), and Marcus Cosby (5-10 205 Sr. RB/LB) who are both two of the stronger kids on the team. Cosby has a 315 pound bench and a 400 pound squat, and could also see a good amount of carries with Maino in the backfield.
Overall Auburn fans should be excited, all of us at NEI plan on getting out and covering the Lions in 2012 and expect nothing but good things from the proud football school. Quarterback Domenic Rockey epitomizes what a leader should be, and we look forward to following this talented bunch moving forward.
