One of Washington’s top two way threats in 2012 will be Mt Si’s Jimbo Davis (5-11 165 Jr. DB/WR). The Wildcats have one of the top perimeters in the state returning, and Davis will be a key factor on both sides of the ball.
Jimbo started as a junior on offense and defense earning all league honors as a defensive back. He had a coming out party in Las Vegas playing for NEI (South) in March in the National 7 on 7 tournament https://www.northwesteliteindex.com/articles/jordan/apr12/vegasparts.html . He locked up some of the top receivers in the country showing that he could play with the best anywhere and not just the Northwest.
Davis is also a track kid that works hard year round. Thus far he has the 3rd fastest 40 yard dash time (4.46) of any athlete at our first four combines. He prides himself on his work ethic, and will always be up in the grill of whichever receiver he is defending.
He is a relentless defender that is more then happy to get physical with whoever he is matching up with. It is this mentality that has separated Jimbo from other athletes. He has jumped up our rankings board as much if not more then any other athlete in Washington. It has been an impressive couple of months to say the least.
When referencing this next season Davis says, ” Its all about team and staying humble”. He continued, ” We all know that we have a chance to do something special if we put in the work, and we would like to make some memories and put that fat ring on our fingers “.
Jimbo will be ranked as one of the top DB’s in Washington when we release the 2013 rankings starting this week.. He has earned the respect of his peers and then some, and really taken on the role of a top athlete.
Talking about NEI and The Barton Football Academy Davis says, ” I have been blessed with some opportunities that some kids only dream about, and going into this off season I didn’t know what to expect, I just wanted to work hard…I started going to the regular Barton camps and moved on to the elite one’s as you guys noticed me, and I wanted to make it all worthwhile”. Jimbo continued, ” The events have made me a better athlete and a better person and I thank you you guys for inviting me, its been a blast” !
Davis sports a 3.5 GPA and will be all over the country attending camps in June and July prior to the season. Wyoming, Nevada, Idaho, and Boise State will get a chance to see him up close and personal within the next 6 weeks. We will be out at most of those camps, and will be able to bring you footage of Davis and other top northwest athletes in action.
We wish Jimbo and all of Mt Si continued success, and look forward to bringing you all of the highlights during the spring and summer.
