Because his high school hasn’t been a hotbed for top recruits, Hazen DE Cody Moorhead has flown under the radar with recruiters. However after a standout season that saw him post 42 tackles, 12 tackles-for-loss and 7.5 sacks, the talented lineman has several schools showing him quite a bit of interest. He earned First Team All-Conference while helping lead his team to a 7-3 record and the playoffs.
“It’s been busy with all of the schools talking to me and showing me interest,” Moorhead told Northwest Elite Index recently. “Washington, Washington State, Stanford, Oregon State, Oregon, UCLA, Cal, Oklahoma State, Army, Nebraska, Princeton and Harvard have all been talking to me or sending me stuff.
“With Washington, coach (Tosh) Lupoi has been talking to me since he was at Cal, and he told me he is interested in seeing me at their camp so I’m going to go to one of theirs.
“I’m also going to go to Stanford’s camp, Oregon State’s camp and Oregon’s for sure and possibly UCLA or Cal’s.”
With his 6’4″, 255-pound frame, natural strength and outstanding quickness, Moorhead is a versatile prospect who has played all over. He said defensive end is where most schools are looking at him, and he enjoys having an impact on that side of the ball.
“For my team, I was named a captain as a junior and a senior so I take a lot of pride in that,” Moorhead said. “I like taking control of the game and creating a great atmosphere for my team. I come off of the ball strong with my technique”.
We will have more from Moorhead in the coming months after he hits the camp circuit.
