(Cody O’Connell 6-8 325 Jr. OL Wenatchee) |
The biggest offensive linemen in the state of Washington this year, Wenatchee OL Cody O’Connell, informed Northwest Elite Index that he received his second offer over the weekend.
“I went to Idaho’s Junior Day (on Saturday) and afterwards they offered me,” an excited O’Connell told NEI. “It was really a good visit. We watched some film, we watched the team practice and after it was over the coaches asked a few of us to stick around”. He continued ” As I was talking to coach (Robb) Akey, and coach (Gordy) Shaw, their offensive line coach came up and they both told me they wanted to offer me.”
The offer from the Vandals joins the Washington State offer that O’Connell received last month after visiting the Cougars for their Junior Day.
With his huge frame (6’8″, 325) and solid technique to go along with a great work-ethic, O’Connell is already vaulting himself to the top of the 2013 line class in the state of Washington.
“Wyoming called my coaches and talked to them so they are looking at me,” O’Connell said. “UCLA has talked to me and I’ve gotten some stuff from Portland State and Oregon State too.”
This offseason, O’Connell has taken part in several Barton workouts and has also been working with a trainer to help his speed and agility.
“The Barton camps are great just because you get a lot of intense training there,” O’Connell noted. “I’m still looking to see what camps I want to go to this summer and I’ll plan that out here pretty soon.”
We will continue to check back in with O’Connell in the coming weeks as he continues through the recruiting process.
Editor’s Note: Cody has got a great head on his shoulders, and a strong family backing which should help propel him towards the top of the positional rankings which will be released shortly. We can’t say enough good things about O’Connell, and as always it was awesome to get the breaking news first.
