(Sammie Long 6-4 190 Jr. WR Lakes) |
The University of Washington has made local recruits a focus early in the 2013 recruiting cycle and on Monday night the Dawgs got a commitment from Lakes (Lakewood, Wa.) WR Sammie Long, a long-strider with a lot of upside potential.
As a junior this past season, Long posted modest numbers — 20 receptions for 266 yards with five touchdowns — but that had more to do with the other talented players around him than his lack of big-play potential.
This fall, Long is expected to put up much bigger numbers as he will be a focal point in the passing game for the Lancers who again will be ranked very highly by Northwest Elite Index this coming fall.
In addition to his offer from Washington, Long was getting a lot of attention from schools across the west including Cal, Washington State, Boise State and Colorado.
Editors Note: We just got back from Vegas and Sammie did a great job getting in the mix and scoring a couple Td’s. We have Long ranked the #1 WR in Washington as he has a ridiculous upside. The 6-4 190 pound athlete did a great job making defenders miss as he used his size and quicks to his advantage.
We look forward to seeing Sammie on the camp circuit this spring and summer with all of the other top athletes in the northwest
