(Danny Mattingly 6-5 235 Jr TE/DE Mead) |
Over the past couple of weeks, since he received a handful of offers, things have been sort of slow for Mead (Spokane) LB/DE/TE Danny Mattingly, but that relative “eye of the storm” has appeared to have passed and he was offered by Nebraska earlier today.
In addition to his offer from the Huskers, Mattingly also has full rides from the likes of Boise State, Eastern Washington, Oregon State, UCLA, Utah and the two in-state Pac 12 schools — Washington and Washington State.
The talented two-way star for the Panthers received First Team All-GSL honors and was named Co-Defensive MVP after posting 73 tackles, five interceptions, two sacks, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries while also blocking two punts. On offense he hauled in 30 receptions for 350 yards and eight touchdowns.
With his size and speed schools are looking at him on both sides of the ball, but it appears that several figure he will be a better fit on defense.
* Editor’s Note- Speaking with Danny after the offer he was excited and said, “Im just really happy right now and appreciative of the offer, Ive done my research on Nebraska and I really like the program”: He continued, ” they want me to come in and play tight end, and im fine playing on either side of the ball”.
Mattingly is a class kid and someone that has the size and smarts to come in and contribute right away. He is one of the top recruits on the west coast and could be a kid with 20+ offers before he is done.
