In Breaking News out of the Valley, NEI’s #1 recruit for the State of Oregon Tanner Sanders (6-5 195 So. ATH) has received a San Diego St offer.
The Sophomore out of Crescent Valley called us after informing family and said, “Ya it was pretty incredible, Head Coach Rocky Long has done a great job with the program and I was humbled by the offer”. He continued, “I was told that they saw my 8th grade and freshman film and when I reconfirmed that I was only a sophomore they didn’t hesitate to ask me to play there”.
Sanders is considered the best player in Oregon for good reason. He was a first team all league wide receiver as a freshman and was ranked among the top 10 receivers in the country in receiving yards in his class. He hauled in 8 Tds and 662 yards receiving in 2010 and then moved to the quarterback position for the 2011 season.
Tanner is a remarkably well spoken kid that understands what it takes to play at the next level. He is the son of highly respected Head Coach Scott Sanders who was an outstanding athlete at Oregon St back in the day.
The main reason we have Tanner ranked as Oregon’s top kid are his intangibles. He’s 6-5 and still growing and has incredibly unique body control for a big man. He is a three sport athlete , an honor roll student, and most importantly comes from a football family that does things the right way.
Sanders will get plenty of additional offers over the next couple of seasons and projects as a WR/QB depending on the program. We want to congratulate Tanner on his first division one offer, its very rare for any sophomore to get a big time scholarship at such an early age.
