(Tatum Taylor 5-11 165 ATH Jr. ODea)

Just when you the thought the speedster from ODea, Tatum Taylor (5-11 165 ATH Jr.), couldn’t have a better February he crushed his own United States 60 Meter record. Just a few weeks back Taylor set the 60 Meter U.S. record with a (6.79) and this past weekend at the Brooks PR Invitational he dismantled his past performance by running a 6.709 almost cutting a tenth of a second off his time.

The ODea Tailback is just getting started on the Track this season and he is breaking records in both Sports. His Football ability is unquestioned and just yesterday he added Idaho to the list of schools that will be offering him a full ride to play football. He now holds offers from (Wyoming, Washington St, Idaho).

Taylor says, “I owe a lot of my success to my coach Mike Cunliffe who has helped my progression tremendously, he’s always real and always gives 100 percent to helping all his athletes”.Tatum continued, ” He’s really helped me correct my form over the last couple years, because I didn’t really take Track seriously until last season..Without him I wouldn’t be where I am today”.

Tatum ran for over 1100 yards, averaging over 10 yards per carry, while reaching the end zone 23 times this past football season. He earned conference player of the year honors helping his team reach the state title game. Taylor is considered one of the Top 10 recruits in Washington and will have a laundry list of schools to choose from before he is done.

We at NEI have gotten to know Tatum and you couldn’t ask for a more polite, well spoken kid. You will hear a lot about Taylor over the next year as he plans on trying to qualify for the Olympics this summer all while being one of the Top football recruits on the west coast.

Any kid with world class speed and a good head on his shoulders is dangerous, and Tatum is definitely one of them.
