A kid that has blown up over the last 6 months has been Sandy QB Justin Adams (6-6 210 Jr.). He is currently ranked the #1 Junior QB in Oregon with Kamerun Smith (6-5 190 Jr. Marist), and Reza Aleaziz (6-4 220 Jr Southridge) in the mix as well.
Adams has been nothing short of phenomenal in all three sports while maintaining a 3.65 GPA with 5 AP classes. Baseball could be his #1 sport, but he projects as a high level D1 QB so who’s to say where he ends up. Currently in basketball he is averaging 14 Pts and 9 Rebounds per game while averaging 2-3 dunks a contest.
As a sophomore on the diamond he lead the league in Hr’s (4) while earning 1st team all league honors, and hitting .395 with a 1.83 ERA as a pitcher. He was also named to the 5a All State team as a sophomore.
On the football field, he again earned first team all league honors throwing 28 Tds and 2600 yards while getting better each week. His junior stats don’t fully show what he is capable of. Taylor Barton, the top QB Coach in the Country, knows a thing a or two about projecting QB’s to the next level and says, ” He is a legit D1 talent and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him playing on Sunday’s”..He continued, ” Justin just gets it, he’s always working to get better and is never satisfied…you couldn’t ask for a more coach able kid”.
Sandy does not have a great football tradition, but what they did have last season was maybe the greatest football coach to ever set foot in Oregon in Greg Barton. He was the quarterbacks coach last season under Ray Baker, and really took a liking to Justin as an athlete and as a person.
Barton says, ” Justin just picks up things really quickly and is extremely football smart, you could completely change your offense mid season and he would be able to adjust and make it work… He’s a kid that is still a work in progress and should continue developing well into his college career”.
This is all relevant info for the coaches that will be courting Adams as they love the fact that the kid still has a ridiculous upside. Adams hasn’t even necessarily tapped into his full potential yet, which is another reason we have him ranked the top QB in Oregon.
Its going to be a fun spring and summer watching things play out with the Quarterbacks. Taylor has trained the #1 Jr quarterback in the Country in Max Browne for his entire career. When referencing Justin Taylor says, “Max is the best junior quarterback in America and more polished, but Justin is not that far behind”. A very nice compliment for a kid that is very deserving. We wish Adams the best moving forward and will continue to follow his progress.
