One of the most athletic players in the state of Washington, regardless of position this year promises to be Lynnwood OL/DL Andrew Basham. He’s a 6’5″, 295-pound kid with good feet, outstanding size and plays with an angry streak.
This past season Basham earned All-Wesco First Team honors on both sides of the ball, playing both left tackle and defensive end even playing some linebacker. Using his sub-5.0 forty time and outstanding quickness and strength, he wreaks havoc on his opponents.
“I just have fun playing football,” Basham told Northwest Elite Index recently. “I like both sides of the ball, but playing defense is my favorite. I enjoy making plays to help my team and getting the ball back for our offense.”
Basham has already started to hear from several schools mostly from the Pac 12, but with the recruiting process just getting underway there is still a long way to go before he makes his decision.
“Washington and Washington State have both sent me letters and I’m hearing from a lot more,” Basham said. “I’m going to go to camps this summer and work on different things. I’ll probably make it out to some camps this winter too, but I’m not too sure about that stuff right now.
“I’m working on my technique and my strength a lot so that I can hold up more on defense.”
We will have more from Washington’s #5 overall recruit in the near future as the recruiting process gets into full swing.
