It has been a crazy couple of months for Sheldon’s Sam McCaskill (6-3 240 Sr DE) who lead the state in sacks (15) this past season and was named NEI’s Defensive Player of the Year. McCaskill lead his Irish team to a (24-2) record over the past two years and a state title appearance.
Just today he finally made his intentions known committing to Boise St after a lengthy recruiting process. In a conversation with Taylor Barton that you will only get here first we broke the news about Sam’s decision, “I called Coach Peterson this morning to commit and they were in a staff meeting where they put me on speaker phone”. He continued, ” when I said I was committing the whole staff started clapping and cheering, while my dad was sitting next to me..It was a really special moment”.
McCaskill will join a Bronco team that has been one of the nations best over the last decade. Sam had received offers from Oregon St, Montana, and Portland St but had gone under the radar to an extent considering how dominant he was during the year. The Eugene native is one of the most down to earth and likable individuals you will ever meet. On the field he is a fierce competitor and will provide the Broncos with some speed and strength off the end that every top program needs.
We wish to congratulate Sam and his entire family on the decision. McCaskll epitomizes class and will be considered one of the top defensive ends to come out of Oregon in the last few years.
