Blake Dutton (6-2 190 Slot/Safety), one of the Northwest’s top athletes got his first offer today as Eastern Washington made there intentions known. The Lakeridge standout who has become a one man highlight reel got some good news. The defending Division 1AA National Champions were sold and will offer Dutton a full scholarship.
Thus far in 2011 he has accounted for almost 2000 all purpose yards and 22 total touchdowns. (13 receiving, 6 rushing, 3 Kicks/Punts). Dutton says “Coach Baldwin called and offered and It feels incredible “. He continued, “they run an offense very similar to our’s, and they like my versatility and speed that goes with the spread. ”
Dutton has had a pretty incredible week as he was also offered by Denver University (Lacrosse). He is a potential all american in Lacrosse, but loves the grid iron and couldn’t be more thrilled about the offer from the Eagles.
“Im just grateful that a class program like EWU would want me, but first I plan on making the most of my senior season”. This past week best friend and starting QB Tommy Knecht went down with a broken arm against Oregon City. Dutton stepped in and played quarterback after scoring three first quarter touchdowns (2 rushing, 1 receiving) and accounted for over 400 all purpose yards and an interception.
We wish Blake continued success and will continue to give updates on Oregon and Washington’s top athletes as they come in.
