Trevor Westover (6-1 195 RB/S Sr.) is a kid we have seen at multiple Barton events over the last few years. He comes in ranked the #10 overall back in the state, but that will change. He is listed as one of the Player of the Year Candidates on our POY Watch list and last Friday he exploited that. His numbers were ridiculous, (275) Rushing, (191) Receiving, and (80) on kickoffs as Thurston held on for a 64-59 victory over South Salem where many records fell.
To put into perspective just how crazy this game was, look no further then Maximo Espitia Jr (6-3 215 ATH Sr.) from South, maybe the state’s top athlete. He accounted for 8 touchdowns as a quarterback (5 Rushing, 3 Receiving).
Westover was a second team all league selection on both sides of the ball last season, but he has grown a couple of inches and added some additional size making him a legit D1AA prospect. He looked like the best player on the field anytime we saw him during his junior season so this year could be big. He’s the type of kid that gets to the ball in a hurry, no fear, no excuses..He says ” I won’t be playing as much D because I have to stay healthy from an offensive standpoint”. When asked about the game he credited his teammates for most of his success, ” Chad Olson is playing great (QB) and Devin Chappell (WR/DB) is a legit Big Sky athlete, they both have been playmakers”. He continued, “Cameron Cook (6-5 260 OL Sr.) has gone under the radar and is one of the top lineman in the state”.
We will continue to follow Trevor and wish him success at all levels. Here is some jaw dropping game film from last Friday where Westover went for over 500 all purpose yards and 3 touchdowns. The teams combined for over 1400 total yards and 123 points..Enjoy
